Robust Header Compression (rohc) Wg

چکیده
As a major transport protocol of current Internet, TCP has the problem of the large header overhead on bandwidth-limited links. Header compression has been proven to be efficient for using TCP over bandwidth-limited reliable links. Unfortunately, existing TCP/IP header compression schemes do not work well on noisy links, especially the one with high bit error rate and long roundtrip time. In addition, existing schemes [2, 3] have not addressed some TCP options such as SACK [4, 5] and Timestamps [6].

Network Working Group Robust Header Compression (rohc): a Profile for Tcp/ip (rohc-tcp)
This document specifies a ROHC (Robust Header Compression) profile for compression of TCP/IP packets. The profile, called ROHC-TCP, provides efficient and robust compression of TCP headers, including frequently used TCP options such as SACK (Selective Acknowledgments) and Timestamps. ROHC-TCP works well when used over links with significant error rates and long round-trip times. For many bandwi...

متن کاملRObust Header Compression (ROHC): ROHC over Channels That Can Reorder Packets
RObust Header Compression (ROHC), RFC 3095, defines a framework for header compression, along with a number of compression protocols (profiles). One operating assumption for the profiles defined in RFC 3095 is that the channel between compressor and decompressor is required to maintain packet ordering. This document discusses aspects of using ROHC over channels that can reorder packets. It prov...
متن کاملINTERNET - DRAFT The ROHC
The RObust Header Compression (ROHC) protocol provides an efficient, flexible and future-proof header compression concept. It is designed to operate efficiently and robustly over various link technologies with different characteristics. RFC 3095 defined the ROHC framework along with an initial set of compression profiles. To improve and simplify the specification, it has been agreed that the fr...
متن کاملZero-byte Support for Bidirectional Reliable Mode (R-mode) in Extended Link-Layer Assisted RObust Header Compression (ROHC) Profile
This document defines an additional mode of the link-layer assisted RObust Header Compression (ROHC) profile, also known as the zero-byte profile, beyond the two defined in RFC 3242. Zero-byte header compression exists in order to prevent the single-octet ROHC header from pushing a packet voice stream into the next higher fixed packet size for the radio. It is usable in certain widely deployed ...
